26 Sept: Saturday ride - Hatfield to Hertford

Five of us met on a bright sunny Saturday morning at Jenny’s in Hatfield for a morning saunter to Hertford.

In attendance were Graham, Geoff, Sue and Phil. And the great news is that Phil has joined the CTC after his second ride with us.

We took a nice route out of Hatfield via Lemsford and out through Digswell up to Harmer Green, then swung back around to Tewin and made for Bramfield.

It was lovely riding through then forest here as the sun dappled through the trees and giving the ride an almost summery feel. The route was quite lumpy and when we had got to Bramfield we had already done 15 mile (oops) but all riders were happy and we headed straight into Hertford from here. Rose’s was packed as usual and they were very efficient, soon we were back on the road again, some of the discussion had turned to winter clothing and with a sale at Aldi on it couldn’t have been more apt.

The ride back to Hatfield was a straightforward affair that took in the road to Essendon and at the gravel pit entrance took the hill up to Letty Green, then we made for the Cole Green Way and a familiar route back to Hatfield via the QE2 and the A1000.

It was a great morning’s ride that ended at 1.30 we did 27 miles (a little more than advertised), but everyone involved enjoyed the morning.
