Sunday rides have a morning coffee break, lunch stop and (summertime only) a tea break in the afternoon. For a shorter ride, some people cycle back from coffee or lunch most Sundays; others stay out all day. As our weekend ride reports show, a Sunday ride to coffee and back could be 30 miles. In the summer months a full Sunday ride could be over 60 miles. In the winter, rides are shorter (about 40 miles) and the lunch stop nearer to the start so we can often get back before dark.
Our popular midweek rides start from St Albans on Wednesday evenings and aim for an energetic 90 minute ride to a local pub.
For your first ride try a Saturday morning fun ride as these are no more than 20 miles and go at a speed that suits everyone. Or, if you can average 12 mph, start with a Sunday ride to elevenses and back.
